Complete guide for installing and using the ClockEye desktop application.

Overview

The ClockEye desktop app enables automatic time tracking, screenshot capture, and activity monitoring. It runs quietly in the background and syncs data to the cloud.

Installation

Download and install the ClockEye desktop app for your operating system.

Windows 10/11

  1. 1. Download the .exe installer from the download page
  2. 2. Run the installer and follow the prompts
  3. 3. Sign in with your ClockEye account
  4. 4. Grant necessary permissions when prompted

  1. 1. Download the .dmg file from the download page
  2. 2. Open the DMG and drag ClockEye to Applications
  3. 3. Open System Preferences → Security → Privacy
  4. 4. Grant Screen Recording and Accessibility permissions

Features

Time Tracking

The desktop app tracks time in two modes:

  • Automatic: Detects activity and tracks time automatically
  • Manual: Use the timer controls to start/stop tracking

Screenshot Capture

Screenshots are captured at regular intervals (default: every 10 minutes). Configure settings:

Frequency:1-30 minutes
Quality:Low/Medium/High
Blur:On/Off
Preview:Before upload

Activity Monitoring

Tracks productivity through:

  • Keyboard activity (keystrokes per minute)
  • Mouse activity (clicks and movement)
  • Active application and window tracking
  • URL tracking (browser only, can be disabled)

Privacy Settings

ClockEye respects your privacy. Configure these settings to balance monitoring with privacy needs.

Excluded Apps

Add applications to the exclusion list. Time spent in these apps will not be tracked or screenshotted.

Blur Mode

Automatically blur sensitive content in screenshots using pattern matching or always-on blur.

Private Mode

Enable private mode to pause all tracking temporarily. Time in private mode is not recorded.

Screenshot Preview

Review screenshots before they are uploaded. Delete sensitive screenshots (time will be marked unverified).

Troubleshooting

App not tracking time

Check that you are signed in and have selected a project. Verify the app is not in private mode.

Screenshots not capturing (macOS)

Go to System Preferences → Security → Privacy → Screen Recording and enable ClockEye.

High CPU usage

Reduce screenshot frequency and quality in settings. Ensure you are running the latest version.

Data not syncing

Check internet connection. Data is stored locally and will sync when connection is restored.
